Henna
For centuries, mehndi — the art of henna painting on the body — has been practiced in India, Africa, and the Middle East, where the henna plant is believed to bring love and good fortune, and to protect against evil. Mehndi is traditionally practiced for wedding ceremonies, during important rites of passage, and in times of joyous celebration. In present day, teenagers love henna for fun of having a tattoo, and parent’s love that that is goes away. A paste made from the crushed leaves of the henna plant is applied to the skin, and when removed several hours later, leaves beautiful markings on the skin that fade naturally over 1 to 3 weeks.
Depending on the application strength you choose, the Henna designs can last from one to three weeks. If you are looking for more temporary tattoos and artwork, see Jacqueline’s glitter tattoo ideas or face and body painting samples.
Henna special for celebrations
Including Henna as part of your special event entertainment gives the occasion an immediate feeling of festivity along with the fun of being treated and pampered while among friends, family and/or co-workers. While you relax in a comfortable chair, you and your friends will watch as the beautiful designs take shape. Teenagers, both boys and girls love henna because it give them a chance to feel they have a tattoo, and their parents love it since it fades away in a few weeks. Many brides-to-be have their designs applied in the company of the special people in their life as an alternate to a traditional “Bachelorette Party”. Henna is a great way to celebrate with your friends at a ‘spa day’, ‘girls night in’, or other theme party.
